Rookie Report #2 [ edit | delete ]

By Adam Knoll | November 14, 2010 at 08:26 PM EST | No Comments (0 new)

Now that the Board Meeting is finally (thankfully) over...we can get down to what people care about. The Depth Chart has been kick started, and the Rookie Report is finally done. So here we go...4 months to March Tryouts...here we go.

Ryan Schuk – Quarterback

                Grade (6 Votes): B (3.3)

Positives:

Gradually getting better every time I see him

Learning our system well, takes criticisms and staying more within game plan

Good arm strength, getting a hang of things.

                Great athlete and attitude.

Negatives:

Goes deep too much, inconsistent accuracy

                Takes flight too soon sometimes

Schuk has been doing much better in the weeks after last month’s report. He is starting to grasp how to read a defense, and stop staring down defenders. His mobility is a plus, yet there are still times he wants to take off too soon, sometimes you have to wait for a route to open up. Overall, he is progressing well and looks better than a guy who just picked up the position 3 months ago.

Codee Sigler – Offensive Line

                Grade (5 Votes): A- (3.8)

Positives:

                Just been amazing with snaps

Great technique, good base to build line around

Beastmode, love this guy, great blocker, athletic, enthusiastic, quick learner.

Negatives:

Need to start doing book work

Sigler has been, and still is, a favorite among the Board members. Perhaps it’s because we had trouble on the offensive line last year. Perhaps it’s because he’s just really solid. In either case, he is a good building block to move forward with.

Gary Wensing – Defensive Back

                Grade (6 Votes): D+ (1.55)

Positives:

Always at practice, one of the most dedicated guys

                All around works hard

                Could become a good Corner

Negatives:

                Size limits him the most

                Does not listen

Un-coachable, refuses to slow down and learn or take criticism

Wensing is ALWAYS there, and definitely wants to learn how to do things right. However, he is having trouble grasping the coaching aspects being thrown at him. His biggest asset by far is his speed, and he is one of those guys that will spend some time getting moved around until he finds his niche.  It is whether or not he has the ability to become a hybrid player that will determine his future.

Georgiafandis – Wide Receiver

                Grade (6 Votes):  C+ (2.3)

Positives:

                Has Potential

Small, but knows it, learning how to use it

Good attitude, picking up system at a decent pace

                Listens very well.

Negative:

                Hands need work

                Hands and routes need work

Georgiafandis has a wonderful workmanlike attitude. His want to become better will overcome his size limitations. Already known as a hard worker, his future will depend upon the ability to better his hands and whether he can learn crisp routes.

Kraemer – Offensive Lineman

                Grade (4 Votes): B (3.0)

Positives:

                Great Attitude and Great Blocker

                Smart, strong lineman

Negatives:

Like to see a little more of a mean streak

Needs to start learning system quicker

Kraemer has been impressive, and with him and Sigler, a new foundation can begin taking shape on the offensive side of the ball. Not the meanest guy out there, he will need to rise to meet defensive linemen’s aggression. However, he is technically sound and a good run blocker.

Kruk – Linebacker

                Grave (3 Votes): B- (2.9)

Positives:

Looked to have the LB position on lockdown

Could be a good coverage Linebacker

Was in a lot of play during team activities

Negatives:

                Need to see him more

His own expectations are his own worst enemy

Kruk hasn’t put pads on in three years, and still forms up beautifully. He has a future on this team as long as his dedication does not waiver. Quick, agile and fundamentally sound, Kruk could give us the second Linebacker we are looking for. Again: it’s up to him though as he is still yet to pass the Board vote.

Al Lundgren – Defensive Back

                Grade (4 Votes): C- (1.8)

Positives:

Definitely could be a shutdown corner

Very aggressive and good coverage skills

Negatives:

Considering all the times we have told him about practice, his attendance is horrible

Attendence needs to pick up, otherwise cut

Lundgren had two Board members  vote to cut him, while he had two other members say he could be a future starter at corner. That’s a wide gap between opinions, and it all comes down to his dedication. Al joined us for our week 2 6-Man game, listened to my shtick about practice and attendance and proceeded to make none of them. Where we go from here is on his shoulders.  His ability is unquestioned, his want to buy into the team mentality remains to be seen.

Kevin Quijano – Defensive Line

                Grade (4 Votes): C (2.0)

Positives:

Big dude and could cause problems in the passing game

Seems to have a good attitude,

Negatives:

                Needs a lot of work

Need to have him come out to learn schemes

Very aggressive and a little set in his ways. He could be a very capable blocker, yet doesn’t really enjoy blocking too much. He could be a decent Fullback, yet..again, the blocking comes into it. However, luckily, he has some strength at D-Line, and seems like a guy who COULD do a lot of things..if he were willing to sacrifice a bit.

Latrell Harvey – Wide Receiver

                Grade (4 Votes): B (3.0)

Positives:

                Good Hands and Speed

Was enthused to just be there.

                Tall, Good ability. Good athlete

Negatives:

Didn’t really see as much of him as we would like

                Needs some catching technique work

Latrell has a world of talent, and boy doesn’t he know it. He has great hands, good route running ability and the one thing our receiving corps lacks…size. He completely bought into our ‘be at practices, or else’ mentality, to the point where he missed a practice (due to work) and felt he couldn’t come back. Alas, we aren’t that crazy, so we would like to see more of him in the coming months.
