2010 GFL Rules
Playing Field:

Acceptable playing surface (grass or turf)
Line field, 100 yd long X 53yd wide, 10yd endzones
Goal Posts, If no posts, both teams must agree to field
Lined out fields every 10 yards
1st down chains with crew



To Start A Game:

No Kickoffs
45 minute halves, with 10 minute Halftime
Teams start play from 30 yd line, in each half
10 yards needed for a 1st down
On 4th down you can go for it or punt.
Punts go 30 yards, no matter where on the field
No touchbacks
If 30 yard punt goes to the endzone, play starts at the 5
Scoring:

6 pts for touchdown
3 pts for Field Goals
1 pt for PAT Kick
1 pt for run or pass from 2.5 yd line
2 pts for run or pass from 5 yrd line

Overtime:

Coin toss to determine who gets ball first
Each team get ball at 10 with 4 downs to score
May score multiple times within thier 4 downs
Each score is worth 1 pt
If the overtime ends in a tie, then game is a tie
Playoff games that end in ties will continue untill there is a winner
No PAT's
Game Timing:

Games are 90 minutes long with 10 minute halftime
Running clock
Each team has 2 one-minute timouts per half
Timeouts during last two minutes of each half stop clock
Game starts at stroke of hour
Refs will conduct game time
Team must have minimum of 8 players at start ($75.00 fine is not)
10 minutes past the hour, if team is not up to 8 players another $75 fine
- Game will be shortened to 45 minutes, with 21 points given to the opposition
No show team will pay $100 to opposing team and GFL
- If the no show team is away, they will then pay field rental costs

Teams:

Rosters max out at 40
Final Roster must be in before 3rd week of season
Initial roster must be turned in before 1st game of season
Additions and subtractions must be turned into GFL Website to be official
Roster becomes locked right before 3rd game
A roster check can happen at any time
Refs can check roster at any time, and player in question will be asked to show ID
If caught after game of using an illegal player, game is forfeit
Players who sign contract are not allowed to jump teams
Team that signs player owns players rights
Team must release player before player is able to switch teams


Offense:

Each team may have 8 players max
Must have 4 players on the line for each play
There must be a center over the ball
There must be a Tackle and another Tackle or Tight End next to center
4th player can be a WR or TE and cover the tackle to make him eligible
If the WR is on the TE side, then he must be off the line
QB can run on any play, must be out of pocket to throw the ball away
Blocking must be between yoke of jersey and thigh pads
NO Chop Block (15 yrd penalty)


Player Equipment/Uniforms:

All players must have equipment specified by NFL rules
Each teams helmets and decals must match
Each teams jerseys and pants must match
Refs will not allow players on the field who are not correctly attired
Defense:

May rush as many as desired
Must rush through the box
Box consists of the Offensive tackles outside shoulder
May rush as long as inside shoulder 'connects' with OT outside shoulder
No leading with crown of helmet to make a tackle
Tackling allowed from yoke of jersey to the feet
Any tackling below the thighs MUST be in a wrap up fashion

ABOSLUTELY NO DIVING/SHOULDERING AT LOWER LEGS
- I'll kick you off the damn team if I see this

Sportsmanship:

Intent to Injure - 15yrd penalty, ejection, $50.00 fine
If act is pre-planned then player is out of the league
May be subject to legal action

Fighting - 15yrd penalty, ejection, $50.00 fine
If fight is controlled within reason, ejection and fine may be suspended
Using helmet as weapon is immediate ejection from league

2nd violation to all above is ejection from league
Only captains or coaches are allowed to speak to refs during game
