Top Offense:
Kyle Ritter: He’s won this award three weeks in a row now. He must be pretty good.
Top Defense:
Andrew Menard: He stops pretty much everything that comes to his side. Been a very nice player to have
Top Reserve:
Ryne Johnsen: The man was everywhere; got hurt early, still caught a few passes. Recovered a fumble and had a really nice game.
Top Play:
Jeff Thorpe: His interception SHOULD have been a touchdown, yet even without the score, it still looked damn cool.
Quarterback: I’m hard on quarterbacks, and just like in week 4, nobody played well enough
Running Back:
Trion Brown: Had a hard time handing out one of these as well. We didn’t run much, for very much.
Wide Reciever:
Kyle Ritter: Could have gone to Thorpe or Johnsen very easily, yet when Ritter went to QB, it was immediately known that he didn’t have himself to throw to. He changes who we are based on where he is.
Offensive Line:
Matt Splitt: Got his butt handed to him all night, stood his ground, did the best he could against a guy twice his size.
Defensive Line:
Jesse Wine: Constant pressure, just a mad man sometimes and he never gets his due
Linebacker:
Chris Bella: The Nighthawks game planed specifically against him, and it showed. He still caused two fumbles and wreaked havoc.
Defensive Back:
Jeff Thorpe: Easy enough. Had a pick, and ran around the entire night. Played well
Hustle:
Jeff Thorpe: In reality, this is everyone’s award. We threw five picks, they returned most of them pretty far. Everyone chased them down, killing themselves to bring them down, and everyone got pick blocked at some point. Jeff was no different than anyone else, except after one pick, Thorpe just came over to the sideline completely gassed. He couldn’t move, the game was no longer a competition between teams; it was a competition to bring himself to get up, to continue playing on. Jeff played both ways, all night, like many others, yet this moment will always resonate with me
