Final Tally - Week 9 [ edit | delete ]

By Adam Knoll | July 22, 2010 at 04:27 PM EDT | No Comments (0 new)

Top Offense:

Kyle Ritter: He’s won this award three weeks in a row now. He must be pretty good.

Top Defense:

Andrew Menard: He stops pretty much everything that comes to his side. Been a very nice player to have

Top Reserve:

Ryne Johnsen: The man was everywhere; got hurt early, still caught a few passes. Recovered a fumble and had a really nice game.

Top Play:

Jeff Thorpe: His interception SHOULD have been a touchdown, yet even without the score, it still looked damn cool.

Quarterback: I’m hard on quarterbacks, and just like in week 4, nobody played well enough

Running Back:

Trion Brown: Had a hard time handing out one of these as well. We didn’t run much, for very much.

Wide Reciever:

Kyle Ritter: Could have gone to Thorpe or Johnsen very easily, yet when Ritter went to QB, it was immediately known that he didn’t have himself to throw to. He changes who we are based on where he is.

Offensive Line:

Matt Splitt: Got his butt handed to him all night, stood his ground, did the best he could against a guy twice his size.

Defensive Line:

Jesse Wine: Constant pressure, just a mad man sometimes and he never gets his due

Linebacker:

Chris Bella: The Nighthawks game planed specifically against him, and it showed. He still caused two fumbles and wreaked havoc.

Defensive Back:

Jeff Thorpe: Easy enough. Had a pick, and ran around the entire night. Played well

Hustle:

Jeff Thorpe: In reality, this is everyone’s award. We threw five picks, they returned most of them pretty far. Everyone chased them down, killing themselves to bring them down, and everyone got pick blocked at some point. Jeff was no different than anyone else, except after one pick, Thorpe just came over to the sideline completely gassed. He couldn’t move, the game was no longer a competition between teams; it was a competition to bring himself to get up, to continue playing on. Jeff played both ways, all night, like many others, yet this moment will always resonate with me

Final Tally (Week 7 & 8) [ edit | delete ]

By Adam Knoll | July 13, 2010 at 12:03 AM EDT | No Comments (0 new)

My appologies for being a week late with the Week 7 awards. To make up for it, we will put both weeks into one post, that way things dont get get crazy.

Week 7 Awards:

Top Offense:

Kyle Ritter - 10 catches, 2TD's. A breakout player for the Phoenix

Top Defense:

                Chris Bella - Old reliable

Top Reserve:

Chris Smith - Plays both ways as a newbie

Top Play:

Chris Bella - He jumped, really, really high

Quarterback:

Dan Mikal - Made some mistakes but clawed back in the second half. A good perfromance

Running Back:

Trion Brown - Only 31 yds, but they were hard earned and he got a score

Wide Recevier:

                Kyle Ritter

Offensive Line:

Matt Splitt - Stepped into the center position and has done a great job

Defensive Line:

Nick Weiss - A menace back there, he owns a piece of the enemies shirt

Linebacker:

                Chris Bella

Defensive Back:

Trion Brown - Also had an interception

Hustle:

Andrew Menard - Plays his heart out each and every week

And the Week 8 Awards:

Top Offense:

Kyle Ritter - Last week it was flashy, this week he won due to grittyness

Top Defense:

Andrew Menard - The Gladiators backfield was his playground

Top Reserve:

Ricky Martinez - 3 touchdowns and a heaping helping of first down catches

Top Play:

Ricky Martinez - Jumped up, caught a ball, stayed on his feet, ran 70yds, TD

Quarterback:

Adam Knoll - Almost threw for 200 yards, in one half. Put the team in a position to win

Running Back:

D’Angelo Richardson - finally got some carries, and literally doubled his yardage output

Wide Receiver:

Ricky Martinez - 3 touchdown will win you this one

Offensive Line:

Adam Peterson - steady and a foundation starter at RT

Defensive Line:

Jesse Wine - Always overlooked, always respected

Linebacker:

Chris Bella - What run up the middle DIDNT he tackle

Defensive Back:

Jeff Thorpe - Had 1 INT, and almost had two

Hustle:

Kyle Ritter - Continually gets hit in the head...seems like he enjoys it
